I usually get around 27 mpg, but sometimes i've gotten 30 mpg. Any ideas why that might happen or anything i can do to make that more consistent?

Let someone else pay for the tech.research and dev. Our 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid gets 32.5 most of the time, paid 10grand the wifes P.O.S. 2004 prius only gets 40.3 not 60 like they said, but she got it for 7grand, ok beater I guess, but the Ford is our favorite, better quality for sure!

I have notice that certain gas station give better gas mileage. I normally stick with gas station where my car get the best gas mileage.

Tire pressure, air temperature, wind, wet or dry roads, how much ethanol is or is not in the gas, etc.

Do you use the same method each time? This includes the route traveled, the traffic density on the route, the weight carried in the car, etc.)

I see a dramatic change driving from Canada to Florida in the winter and experiencing fuel mix differences. Love the huge mileage gains and the incredible weather down there while it's snow and cold back home.

Like I said in my earlier post, I average about 20 MPG with mine (mostly in the city) but on a trip where I did mostly highway driving I got 28 MPG out of that tank of fuel. So, if you are averaging 27 MPG with a Fusion V6 you should be real happy.

This will reduce drivetrain friction, increase reliability and performance while reducing maintenance. Amsoil, Synlube and Redline make high quality oils. Make sure your tires are inflated for high mileage. This means that you will use a higher PSI than Ford recommends but NOT higher than the PSI on the sidewall. You should inflate the front tires higher than the rear tires because they have to bear more weight so the less they distort when rolling the better your mileage will be. They will also run a bit cooler and tire life should not be affected. I like E3 spark plugs because they have less resistance than other plugs but if you have a coil-on-plug ignition, this mod will probably not apply.

I have a Fusion 3.0 but mine is a 2012 and I am averaging 20.14 MPG with mine but I do mostly city driving with it. I made a out of State trip a few months ago and got 28 MPG on that tank of fuel but that is the best I have ever gotten with this car. Your mileage difference from 27 to 30 probably depends on the amount of highway driving you are able to do. With mine I usually get around 19-21 MPG because I am always driving in the city but with my trip out of State I got a lot of highway driving in and I got 28 MPG out of that tank. It can also depend on the weather, if you are in Michigan you have similar weather to Minnesota and I know my MPG's are lower in the winter than they are in the summer.
