I posted earlier I do have a portable air compressor in my vehicle, but have found it and my TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor Light) prevented me from ruining my tire and allowed to make an appointment on time.
The TPMS light came on while enroute to a car dealer appointment to replace my wife's totaled vehicle. I couldn't tell which tire was low (I do wish the TPMS law required the actual air pressures instead of just an amber light), but my tire guage showed 32 PSI in the right rear (38 PSI on the other three). I got out the compressor and filled up the tire and found a nail in the outer tread. A detour to my tire shop had the tire patched and all four rotated in less than 30 minutes.
The compressor has paid for itself! :-).

One of the better things that I bought. My usual gas station started charging for air about 4 years ago so I bought a cheap Black and Decker compressor. I think it will pay for itself starting the end of this year.
