It looks like you can add pictures of the stations now. Has anyone tried it?

KO thanks for the tip! It does give you some great aerial views. Bird's eye isn't available everywhere though. I guess a lot of coastal Florida is detailed and available in bird's eye.

Well, It looks like the MSL is being updated and will not be available for a few days.

It will be interesting to see what new things they add/change. Time will tell.

I have been looking for the picture Icon also, GB must not have implemented it yet.

No, not really. Lately I've been adding stations to the MSL that have been missing in the Ocala area. I left you a message on the message forum about the new feature set on the home page about your camera icon--I can't find it yet.

RAS,

Did you get those pictures to work? I have not had any problem. I try to keep the file sizes small.

Tried adding some more pictures over the weekend, but the pictures didn't stick at all. Though I was having some problems with the MSL downloading correctly, couldn't get the map feature to work at all. Hopefully, just a weekend glitch, and I'll try adding pictures again later this week.

I asked GB if they could add a Camera icon to the stations that have pictures and they thought it was a good idea. Time will tell as to when we see that implemented.

Yeah...well, you know....

I've continued to add new stations to the MSL from around the Ocala area. I'll take a few more pictures today and try to post them to these new stations I've added. And we will see what develops....

PNF,

I tried adding some yesterday and still it's a hit-or-miss whether the pictures stick or not. I've edited some pictures here and there but until I get this posting down to a science, I'm not going to work my pictures into an art.

RAS,
You can crop the picture and get rid of the trash and center the picture. Easy to do in Microsoft photo editor. Keep on working on the MSL!!

I was able to post a couple of more pictures this morning for stations in Belleview, Ocala and Silver SPrings Shores. So far it's a hit-or-miss propostion whether I can get the pictures to upload or not. Can't seem to find what it takes or actions on screen in order for it to work every time, but I think I'm getting closer to it.

Finally got one of my photos to upload and stick. Check out the BP station in Silver Springs Shores. Otherwise still having problems but I will keep on trying. At least I got one to stay so I know its at least a workable problem. If the picture seems a little fuzzy its because I was using a low-resolution file size, and I will now take new photos with a higher resolution size.

By the way...if you add a photo to a verified station, you will not lose your verified status.

I used Jpeg for all. I opened them in MS Photo, did an autobalance, then did a copy of a section and pasted them into MS Paint and then saved them off as a Jpeg and then loaded them. My orginal was about 1+ meg, but when I copied to MS Paint and saved the file the size was a lot less, but then I did crop the photo to get rid of extraneous stuff.

PNF, I saw the ones you have for Mary Esther and they are looking good. However, I'm still having problems seeing the ones I uploaded. And uploading some today hasn't helped any either. Tell me what size photos in both pixel count and file size did you upload. Also did you use a particular format such as jpeg?

Just entered a bunch of pictures of stations in Mary Esther and Navarre, FL. I edited them to reduce the file size and they uploaded and display just fine.

Hey PNF just wanted to let you know that when I tried posting photos to the stations today, after uploading text appears that it was a successful upload. Then immediately another says there is a problem with uploading, specifying that the photos be larger than 100 pixels high by 100 pixels wide (mine are 640 x 480), that the file is no larger than 4 MB in size (mine are about 150Kb in size), and that they be in a number of different formats, among them jpegs which is what I am sending them. I also put in a new station not on the MSL (a Kangaroo at 6820 SE Maricamp Rd in Silver Springs Shores) and tried to do it like that and it won't work that way either. I guess we will have to wait on GB to work out the bugs.

Thanks PNF! I'll keep trying to upload at least one photo a day and see if and when they will display properly. If it does work eventually, I'll post back on this topic to let you know. Hope you had a fun and safe holiday!

After rereading your email, I checked the 2 Citgos and looked at the Shell station near Silver Springs and I do not see any pictures added. We will need to wait for GB to fix it.

I did check one of the ones that I did in Navarre, Citgo at 98 & Sunrise, and the picture is there but not displayed. Right clicking on the picture does nothing either.

The first day I loaded some up and everything worked great. Yesterday and today I tried and it is not working. Sent GB an email, so I will have to see what they say or they might be working on fixing the problem. I will check yours and let you know. I entered several in the Mary Esther and Navarre, FL areas.

Hey PNF can you check to see if any of the photos that I downloaded are appearing on your screen. I'm not sure after trying it again, whether the photos are downloading correctly or whether I just can't see them. I loaded it for a Shell and a Citgo station in Ocala, and a BP station in Silver Springs Shores. The only way to view seems to be in edit mode.
Thanks!

Its not working. I went and took about 10 standard VGA size JPEGs today with my digital camera. I went to the MSL and clicked on the photo upload section, it processed the upload directly from the memory card but did not show the photo. I tried use the editing button and made sure to update and saved after uploading the photo. Then I reloaded the search page and tried to view the photos but none appeared. If you have any suggestions (PNF) I'll take it and try again. If not perhaps GB can post the directions about how to use it. It seemed straight forward and simple but its not working for me.

I took a couple of pictures with my cell phone, so I need to see what they look like on a larger screen.

Just seen it myself this afternoon when I was updating/verifying some more of the MSL. Tomorrow when I'm out I'll try to remember to take my camera and start snapping away. I'll post again after trying to download the pictures.

I agree with many of your points.

Especially, the part about having the MSL available to create your Favorites list. If they would allow new users to "See" the MSL, but not be able to edit until they get their 10,000 points what harm would that be. To be able to "add" an MSL station listing to your Favorites would be great, then we would/could eliminate many duplications. If you want to use a station, put into the MSL. Even if GB gave 5 points for work in the MSL, with a limit of 25 points, it would be better. I can see where some abuse could happen, but then members could report that.
