In the last part of our series on car insurance, we'll cover the extras that some motorists like to add to their policy- such things as towing, roadside assistance, and car rental.

Now, these may seem like things you don't need- but they certainly become nice luxuries once you've needed or used them. They typically don't cost much every month, but can save you a lot of headaches and bills if you have more than a claim or two every year.

Rental reimbursement will pay for your rental car if your vehicle is damaged or stolen. Basically, until your car is done being repaired, you get a rental. If the car is stolen, you can drive the rental until you've determined your next car and the insurance settles your claim. Make sure...

extras can be significant if your car is not covered for say; flood damage. You are paying to bet it will happen; they are betting that it won't happen.

What is the big deal? If people want these extra perks on their insurance and can afford it, more power to them.

"towing and roadside assistance are cheaper with AAA"

With our State Farm policies, it's much cheaper to pay $6 twice a year, for each vehicle, than the $70 AAA membership. I don't get free maps out of it, or discounts at places, but just in terms of towing and lockout instances, it is cheaper.

All these things have saved me money, in all occasions, especially the car rental. I was in an accident and my insurance company paid for a rental for nearly a month until the settlement was established.

I always keep towing on my policy; it does come in handy if you need to have your car towed.
