For some areas, such as the Great Lakes, records were again set last year. Outside of the Great Lakes, gas price records are still on the books from 2008, so depending on the region you live in, you may have seen record prices just last year. For the 200-plus U.S. cities that we track, I thought we'd see which cities are the closest today to hitting record highs. With average gasoline prices at their highest ever level for this time of year, and with many areas again flirting closer with $4/gal, I thought it'd be prudent to see where we stand today vs. when we hit record prices.

For some areas, such as the Great Lakes, records were again set last year. Outside of the Great Lakes, gas price records are still on the books from 2008, so depending on the region you live in, you may have seen record prices just last year.

For the 200-plus U.S. cities that we track, I thought we'd see which cities are the closest today to hitting record highs. Here are some of the results, sorted by how far from records current prices are.

1c/gal- Gary
2c/gal- Chicago
4c/gal- Milwaukee...

Ran a page search for the word "record" on the GB All Recent News page. — quite a few "results". If the "$ 5.00 by Summer" predictions pan-out — it's going to be a "world of hurt". Likely, the "Admin" will "cave" before that.

End taxpayer subsidies for Big oil – pump prices go up. Limit refinery production or close refineries – pump prices go up. Natural gas, alternative fuel, renewable energy – pump prices go up. More EV and Inbred vehicles – pump prices go up. Higher MPG vehicles – pump prices go up. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

I don't think prices won't go down much under Romney, but 4 more years of Obama would lead to more all-time high gas prices. Obama has no idea how many people his policies and decisions are hurting but he seems to have a silver spoon....you know where.
