For many years, I have been personally promoting our little corner of the World as a travel destination. I think that this would be a good place to continue the campaign.

Here are a few reasons to come to Northeastern Ontario. If anyone else has anything to add, please do.

Northeastern Ontario . . .

Has some of the largest lakes in the World (Superior, Huron).
Has the World's largest fresh water island (Manitoulin).
Has the World's largest game preserve (Chapleau).
Has a World class science centre (Science North).
Is in the World's largest boreal forest.
Is on the World's oldest and largest rock formation (Canadian shield).
Has the World's largest five cent piece (Big Nickel).
Has some of the best scenery that can be seen from the road.
Has the friendliest people in the World.
Has lots of camping, fishing, hiking, canoing/boating, hunting, etc.
Has lots of festivals and activities all year round.

You sum it up well, hongr3.
Simply the best camping trip I've been on was up to Lake Superior Provincial Park. That was our destination, but we stopped and enjoyed Grundy Lake and Chutes too. The tour of the Big Nickel and a day at Science North was worth it too. The next time I'm heading that way, which is soon I hope, I'm going up hwy 11 through Temagami, Englehart, Hearst,...you know. I wouldn't mind a tour of the mines in Timmins and a trip to Moosonee on the Polar Bear Express out of Cochrane either. Stops at Remi and Fushimi Lakes will be mandatory. It's been too long since I've been that way. It's a shame that Lake Nipigon Provincial Park is closed now.
