It usually is a beautiful beach. Except when certain tourists visit & decide to dump their garbage everywhere. (They've never heard of a garbage can in their neck of the woods.) Or respecting what nature & water we have left anywhere. With such bad habits--they're no longer called 'tourists' here; but rather 'low-down litter bugs!'

Its expensive to stay over night (even in the cheaper hotels). Blue Mountain area is also nice (nearby) as well as the town of Collingwood (& Meaford further west).
IMO: You get a better bang for your hotel buck at Peterborough or Kingston (but the beaches may not be as nice).

I spent 6 years living there and it certainly can be a lot of fun and a really nice place to visit and spend some time. Pick your tripnin advance and book well ahead if you will be staying at any hotels. Make sure you get to the beach early for good parking and to pick a spot, otherwise if you want a quieter setting, try Beach area 4-6 (5 is my favourite) which are far less busy and away from the "Main end" of areas 1 and 2.

This is one area around the great lakes I have not yet been through in my Great Lakes Lighthouse travels. If & when I get there I'll come back & write about the area.

You just brought back some nice memories. I was there a few times in the late 70s/early 80s.

Wasaga Beach has gone way down lately. Not worth it anymore.

If you're up that way, I would head to Collingwood to eat at First Street Bistro. I had an amazing meal there four or five years ago.

Has anyone been there more recently. I would like to plan a trip there but would like to hear some first hand reports first.

This is not unbiased, but.... I have not been to Wasega Beach in 35 years or more. I have family in Ontario who have and they enjoyed it...
