I have been forced to change to 87 octane from 93 due to the high prices of gas.... any one have any experience of performance problems or massive decrease in MPG by using 87 octane?

Thanks in advance for you advice;

Littleyellowman is right. Check to see what the owner's manual says the minimum required octane is. This is different than what the recommended octane is. I would never put a lower octane fuel than what the owner's manual requires for any car. Not only is it bad for your engine, but it will throw your warranty right out the window as well. Bite the bullet and pay for the higher gas, or you may be paying for a new engine.

All I can say is, I switched to 87 in my CX-7 with the turbo and everything is great. No loss of power and a slight increase in milage.
