I have Chrome, Opera and Firefox on my Linux machines. They're all good browsers.

Opera is proving to be a viable alternative browser on both Windows and Linux and Android for me.

The press is still talking about Chrome 6. I'm running Chrome 7.0.517.0. There have been some occasional minor problems along the way, but the development version of Chrome is very good and bug fixes are released extremely fast for most of those problems.

The press can't keep up. This article talks about the features in 5.0.307.7, but I just installed 5.0.322.2 today. I certainly haven't noticed any problems.

I thought I would give Chrome time to mature a little longer.

bestdeal120,

Which browser games isn't it working with? If the problem is Flash games, there is a work-around to get Flash installed for Chrome. Basically, you go ahead and install it for Firefox, and then create a link to the library from the Chrome plugins directory. The library location might be different on your system, but I did:

cd /opt/google/chrome/plugins

ln -s /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so libflashplayer.so

I updated to 3.5.6 last night. According to the security notice from Ubuntu, it fixed a number of security problems.

penfieldspotter.
Did you update to FF 3.5.6?

updating Mac OS X FF 3.5.5 to 3.5.6 solved a history problem.

For some reason Firefox has been behaving really sluggishly the last day or two. I did a full switch to Chrome over lunch (importing my current bookmarks, installing an ad blocker, installing the Flash plugin). It is incredibly fast.

One reason I use it is that I monitor multiple gmail mailboxes and you can't have more than one open in a single browser, even in separate tabs. One Gmail open in FF and the other in Chrome works well for me. Yes, I've also got Opera on all my Linux boxes and even have Epiphany as well on one of them.

Installed in a few seconds on Ubuntu 9.04 (32). Working great. I've been using it on Windows to read my gmail and a few other everyday sites. Slick.
