It is time for the First Nations to have a representative in this position and Adam is a good roll model.

I seen the current showing of Arctic Air last night, it's come a long way from it's first.
Good views of Yellow Knife from the air, plot is improving, details getting better including ( remark from Adam;s character that sneaking up was an Indian thing).
I like the part where an East Indian pilot has earned his chance to learn to fly DC 3 s.
Hi stakes poker game was believable as well.
I give a good rating.

Adam Beach's new series in C B C last night,
A bit of a slow start but ended up very promising.
Most of the details were right, even to Adam's character and another Native character switching back and forth from English to Dene ( subtitles provided)
Characters were believable and not Hollywood, N W T scenery was terrific , and time to digest the scenes not a Discovery Channel style of 1 second cuts.
Lots of action for male types including a knockdown of a Calgary financier , some bare top of Adam for the female audience.
From someone who has been behind the camera , I recommend.

I agree , he would be up against the still there Colonial mindset in Fed and Provincial governments.
I am reading a book by Calvin Helin
"Dances with Dependency"
He lays it out how we got to the present state of Aboriginal affairs in Canada. He has other books , here is his website.

Well worth the read, it is a blueprint of where we should be going.

Years ago before the internet was up we thought the only way to talk all over the province was using amateur radio. Turns out Telco technicians could call each other, no long distance fee. Two of them were having coffee one day talking about Manitoba getting an extra holiday, preferably in February to help break up the winter. The first suGGested 'Louis Riel' and the second liked the idea as he was from one of the very first families of the 'Red River Settlement'. This idea was passed from Phone tech to Phone tech and out to everyone met in coffee break situations. It may not have helped but it never hurt. We now have 'Louis Riel' day to honour the father of Manitoba. Adam Beach for GG. Pass it on.

TadeuszK : as a native (Metis) I am aware of the barbs and daggers, I personally won't put my tail between my legs and let mooniow to have it all their way.
Just in case someone wants to bring out the negativity bit.
I have worked all my life, have paid taxes even if some are obviously misused, I don't do drugs and drink in extreme moderation, Maybe a beer a week.
I have no criminal record, have owned a small incorporated company , which made money honestly. I have never received any subsidy.
But do not have the time and patience to deal with facebook or any other social networks.
Now back to work before my boss (Me) give me hell .

Sorry, no air miles, no hand held devices, no lap held devices, and no social networks. This place is not exactly a social network- more of a barbs and daggers kind of place!

Spread it to other blogs. Make the idea go viral. Lots of people can change things-see Tunisia and Egypt.

TadeuszK:
As a native person I appreciate your idea, unfortunately that happening is a distinctly improbable .
Yes I know about the Manitoba MLA Harper of Eagle feather fame and a few coastal people in B.C. who served years as MLA s, all served well but not in what is called power positions.
In the Metis gatherings that subject sometimes arises, usually resulting in the consensus opinion "Maybe Canada will progress towards equality so in about 2 generations it may happen".
Many natives hold the opinion that it will take the same time to take our rightful place in society as it took to destroy our societies, 300 to 500 years.
Not withstanding that ,many of us keep trying.
At least we now have native actors playing natives in Hollywood.
Have you ever seen the Documentary " REEL INJUNS "
It taught me a lot of what has happened.

I think you meant "role" model TadeuszK. We wouldn't want to "roll" over this one.

But doing something wrong since forever doesn't make it right.

It's offensive enough the GG is an unelected position, and you wish to appoint one an the basis of race?

Good Idea, but I think he is busy being a Specialist Doctor at UVIK.
I like his acting, especially "Smoke Signals"
