The government can afford to upgrade its fleet to these new energy efficient vehicles. Corporations, companies and businesses with lots of money can afford to buy a fleet of these vehicles and experience the savings almost immediately.

Out of those 2289 Chevy Volts, I wonder how many were sold to GE and other of Obama's cronies.

N4PIP, I'm guessing that Hangnail309 said that EV's aren't practial because it's not practical for the area he/she lives in (Manitoba). The Prius C is labeled a "C" for city. Not practical for Manitoba which is still mostly rural outside of Winnipeg

Hybrids are like solar panels. They take a long time o break even. sure it's better than a v8 but your in debt and you better hope nothing goes wrong with the car.

Just this morning I saw one of those hard top riding mowers on the highway and it was scarry. However, the little old retired school teacher driving it seemed to think she she was sitting on top of the world. I don't think she knows it is for going to church on Sunday mornings, only.

I'd hope to buy an electric one day; but I've seen more articles and tv specials indicating that hybrids are better all around. Can't afford anything new right now!

Yes good for them to buy electric car.
but do they know to create electricity is by burning coal.
Burning coal is also very bad for the environment.

I find it hard to believe that the Honda Civic Hybrid isn't listed. Local dealers in my area are selling them as soon as they arrive at the dealership.

For those that say that hybrids cost too much, or are not practical, what do you base those opinions on? You can buy a Honda Insight or Toyota Prius C for under $20,000 new. Why aren't they practical? The cabin space is just as roomy as any other car in their class. They can go the same distances as non-hybrid cars. So, what's the problem?

I think that some of the people who have negative attitudes toward hybrids and electric vehicles should do their homework.

Wow! Check out the difference between the Prius (all types) and the Volt!

Now, what about their respective fuel mileages?

The Govt rebates on the Prius are long gone.
We bought 2 while the rebates were still offered.

GM, OTOH, will never sell their quota of hybrids
to have the rebates stop.
