Midwest breaks all time record high gas prices

GasBuddy Blog -- It was coming. Some states and cities have shattered records that have stood for nearly five years and gasoline prices skyrocket in the Midwest.

Minneapolis saw another jump over night and into today to $4.39 a gallon, beating out consistently high Honolulu by a dime! There's more bad news before the light at the end of the tunnel- more hikes may hit in the day or two ahead. But relief isn't far off- prices may peak in the next week before beginning to decline. The high prices for gasoline are sure to attract replenishment from far away. Records for gas prices are listed below.

Cities and states and their pricing status:
NE: $4.00. All time high $4.09 on 7/13/08.
Lincoln: $3.96. All time high $4.14 on 7/13/08...

Today's price is $1.299/litre. = $4.50/gallon

$4.00/gallon is a bargain.

We are now close to 4.00 dollars when does this stop, soon we won't be able to go to work, because of this outrageous gas price. What will they do then! If we are all smart we will buy only what we need and stop filling our tanks!! Wake up and smell the coffee,we are getting cheated! Stop the fill ups and hit them back in their pocketbooks!

Is this legit? Or is this more bait and switch political propaganda?

Around here, prices have not gone higher than in 2005.

if we kept all the oil we drill in the states, including Alaska and off our shores, and fully used our natural gas reserves we would be energy independent. It grinds my gears that we spent all that effort to build the Alaska pipeline, then we ship it off overseas to the open market. When will America wake up and see we are being used by big oil and their greed for profits.

Something interesting is that when you drive the interstates up in Iowa and Nebraska, there are a lot of stations pushing different formulations of Ethanol all the way up to E85. I'm suspecting that reliance on Ethenol mixing in with gasoline (minimum 10% by law in these states) pushes prices up too.
