duh, PD is all I can say. With newer technology, it's expected, if not a given that there is better fuel efficiency at all speeds.

"54.5mpg by 2025" -- so large families and groups will have to drive multiple vehicles?! I'm curious... is there really any science behind these future standards?
Electric vehicles are a nice idea, but the infrastructure cost is going to outweigh any benefit for a LONG time to come. Even the IEEE is cautious. Just for example, a neighborhood power grid can only handle TWO ev's in the neighborhood before that transformer canister on the power pole must be upgraded, at a cost of many thousands of dollars.

Good thing as gas prices continue to climb. There are too many distractions for today's drivers to safely drive at 85. Not a good idea.

Newer vehicles, More vehicle options, Higher vehicle cost, Higher vehicle speeds, Higher vehicle MPG, More vehicle crashes, Higher Death Rates. The police do say: 'Speed Kills!' …..Better vehicles with computer aided driving and more attentive drivers needed? Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Safety should be considered before raising the speed limits. The condition of some roads are terrible, and higher speeds are a safety concern.

You get even better gas mileage if everyone in the vehicle picks their feet up while going up a hill too!
