Want to Save Money on Gas? Grab Your GasBuddy

GasBuddy Blog -- As Memorial Day rolls around, GasBuddy receives dozens of inquiries from the press asking how motorists can save money at the pump. Sure there are things that can make minor differences, but every one wants to know- what's the easiest way to save?

Enter GasBuddy.com. GasBuddy, as you may well know, has been around since 2000, powered by millions of volunteer spotters who report prices and help each other save. ABC Nightline recently approached GasBuddy for several tips they could tell motorists about, and loved the GasBuddy app so much, did an entire story!

Remember to follow local laws and ordinances when using the app, and don't drive distracted! Gas prices matter to us too, but your life is more important!

I use the GasBuddy as a general guide for the major station prices in the area. One thing GasBuddy won't do is give you the "lowest" price. That's only found on the website, NOT the app. The app does not show the independent stations who generally have the lowest prices in that area.

driving from Houston TX to Pittsburgh PA, used map feature. Kentucky was around 3.39 a gallon, saw a station in Cincinnati at $ 2.86, got there it was $ 3.39. Saw Costco on map, in same exit area paid $ 2.86 for 18 gallons that's a savings of $ 9.54!

If nothing else studying Gasbuddy entries end up showing patterns in our local area. Holding off in gassing up near home when I know I am traveling through an area where prices are always a bit cheaper saves me some money with little to no real concerted effort.

Love posting & finding the best prices. But it would be great if everyone would try to post the correct credit prices & not cash or member prices.

I always wait until I'm at a light or I pull over to post on the mobile app.

I check GB daily but the gas prices need to be accurate. There's one member in my area that constantly posts incorrect prices, or whatever the member before him posted, and GB needs to do something to weed out these people.

but even when I'm on home turf, it's nice to know where to find the cheapest gas on a given day... though sometimes the prices ain't what was posted. But that's to be expected.
