Never, I have never seen anyone else do it and I don't think I could figure it out on my own (and I am not helpless) it just looks rather difficult - especially the jack!

About 2 months ago a friend of mine had a flat on her car in her garage and said that her son was going to change it but she knew he had never changed a tire before so she called me. I came over to help and it is a good thing I did. He was going to raise the car on the plastic bumper, did not know how to put the jack together, wanted to lift the car before loosening the lugs, did not put the emergency brake on. About halfway thru changing it he confessed he had never done this before and thanked me for coming over and assisting him. It could have been a very bad situation. Parents should teach children basic skills to keep them safe in any given situation. Changing a tire is one of those lessons to teach.

It's probably been 2-5 years, at least. Maybe more. But I've taken off plenty of tires to work on suspension, brakes and the like.

intewedm "What a bunch of liars! No one changes a tire anymore unless they do it for a living!"

how about if I have a flat tire out on the highway? I do have summer tires and winter tires, got another set of rims so I could change them myself and not have to pay someone else to do something I could do myself. I also do not do it for a living.

Definitely within the last 2 years. I don't know how I do it, but I do go through periods of time when I get lots o' flats. Maybe my neighbors don't like me.

Hmm… It's been probably 5 to 10 years. I've been incredibly lucky recently to find leaks before they go completely flat.

Last winter. It was one of those days when I had an emergency that I had to pull on the side road. Guess what happened? I ran over a big bolt, sharp enough to puncture the right front tire of my truck.

At the age of 16, my Father taught me how to wash my car, change the oil and tires. The last time I changed a tire was long enough that I don't remember. My Father taught me also that when something goes wrong with your car, don't wait too long to get it fixed. Keep the maintenace up in your car!

Unfortunately have very bad back. Need others helping hand. Do notice more people hauling removed roofing on roads, and consequently need more nails removed from flat tires then before.
