It could go to $10.00 a gallon and I would still not use public transportation. If I cannot drive..then I'm not going. Simple as that.

If gas prices doubled, I would consider using public transportation as a primary mode of travel to/from work. But, I would still keep and maintain my own vehicle. Relying on public transportation for ALL travel is not feasible or realistic.

Public transportation is not available in my area, we do have a taxi cab that runs occassionaly, but I would probably consider walking some places or possibly carpooling or something.

No, but I would look hard at carpooling/van pooling to get to work. Public Transport in LA just plain sucks. It's not nearly good enough to make it useful to me on a regular basis.

No, I live in a rural area without public transport. My motorcycle gives me 45-50 mpg, so the pain isn't quite as bad.
