I try to leave out of town the weekend before Memorial Day, just for this reason alone.

I celebrate my birthday during the Memorial Day weekend. While I once enjoyed leisure activities during prosperous times, this year I will only experience even greater economic peril. Fortunately my home is bought and paid for, but the operating costs especially for energy have been steadily increasing. About the only thing I am currently planning to do this upcoming Memorial Day weekend is sitting in my recliner in front of my computer and thinking about the better times of my prosperous years.

As we have not made plans to travel this comming holiday weekend, gas price is no factor and even if we did have travel plans, it wouldn't make any difference.

Price of E85 is actually LOWER than it was three months ago- it's just $2.29.

If you have a flex-fuel car, it makes good economic sense now that E85 is far cheaper than gasoline!

See the locations of stations at http://e85prices.com

With a flex-fuel car- when gas is cheaper, you can buy gasoline.

When E85 is cheaper, you can buy E85.

That's FLEXibility!

As a combat veteran of the War in Vietnam; I usually spend Memorial Day and Veterans Day at home quietly remembering all my good friends who were killed in that useless war. Those days are not days of celebration for me. They are days of remembrance for me that should not be desecrated by booze, partying and frivolity.

I don't expect a change of plans for Memorial Day due to higher gas prices for several reasons some of which are:

1. The cars I drive are economical and I believe any supply problems are more political than shortage related. I am not interested in rewarding those with a political agenda by altering my behavior.

2. I doubt the prices will be higher than they have been at times in the past when I went places.

3. I will be traveling in mid May and have no plans for Memorial Day travel so there is no plan to alter.

Hard for some to say because we don't know what the prices will be until that weekend approaches.
