Maybe the gas stations should invest in some digital signs so they can change the price by the minute! I would think the usefulness of the price depends more on how early in the day it is posted than the time from when it was spotted.

If I'm driving the length of a street with several stations on my favorites list, than I will flll in the prices as I pass them, and hit update just once for all.

See, for me, I deliver pizza for a living right now. It is not hard for me see between 15-20 stations a day. If I take a delivery to the Best Western, then I will pass by a Pilot, a Hess, and an Exxon, as well as a Sun and a Texaco within viewing distance. If I take that delivery at 5:30pm, and I close, then it may be as late as 2:30am before I get to somewhere that I can get on a computer. If I dont close, then it is sooner. If it is the last run of my work day, then it could be posted within 1 hour from the time that it is noted. While I am doing my job, if a price change is noticed from the initial recording of the information, notation of that change is made as well. As for ensuring quality reporting, most of the prices do not change that frequently at this time (although I have seen them do it before), usually just once a day, and different stores change at different times (a number of stores in my delivery area change their prices overnight AFTER closing for the day), others almost always change in the morning at, or before opening. So for me, while all but the RARE occassion, it is within an hour of getting to the computer, but as to when the price is noted, well that can vary wildly depending on when I am delivering to where.
