I posted my thoughts on the poll with the speed limit sign, but the cars were going by so fast that my thoughts were torn off that poll.

I live in TAMPA ( actually Riverview, but its only a spot ) where everyone are transplants from other states ( mostly the north ) !!
Well no one drives the speed limit and no one knows how to use their directional signals when changing lanes or turning.. Its so sad !! FYI This area has more Motorcycle per Capa than any other area in the US. And we have at least 1 story a day of motorcycle death due to cars making left turns in the path of motorcycles !! Also Sad !! We have also seen a increase of people rear ending Motorcycle stopped at stop signs and red lights !! Really Really Sad !!
Be careful when you are on Vacation and beware of motorcycle around you !!
The life you save maybe mine !!

I like 70MPH on the Interstate highways. Its like a great cruising speed. Although I have traveled faster at times.

The I-5 Freeway in Washington State (traveling N-S) is primarily 70 mph. It slows to 60 mph in some areas & then returns to 70 mph. I usually travel 5-10 mph below the speed limit (on the fwy) to save on gas.

The maximum speed limit on I-10 in Louisiana is primarily 70 MPH, but the speeds will drop to as low as 50 MPH in some areas, such as the construction area just to the east of Baton Rouge between the Highland Road exit and the intersection with I-12. The speed limit in this area will return to 60 MPH once the construction is complete, and this segment of the highway is roughly 4 miles from my home. The 70 MPH segments are about 6 miles from my home.

guess it depends on what you are driving. People around here change their speed limit on an hourly basis.

During the day, it is acceptable to go up to 100kph (60mph). At night, though, there is so much wildlife on the road (elk, mule deer, etc) you wouldn't DARE go more than about 85 maybe 90 kph max. Unless you can see around corners, and have the reflexes of a 19 year old.

- Sorry - we have 80MPH in much of West Texas now. The roads commission now has authority to raise speed limits to 85MPH where it is determined to be acceptable by road conditions.
