It will be interesting to see the number of gas station owners and fleet managers that are using Gasbuddy even though they'll be small fractions of the overall user base.

Most days I'm not much of a consumer, but tonight I'm going to the ball game with my friends so we'll be consuming quite a bit !

This is a funny survey question. I guess the results are pretty obvious. Most of us are regular customers.

I wouldn't go so far as saying I'm a regular consumer as I would say I'm an unfortunate consumer.

I don't think this is a stupid poll at all. It gives a better understanding of who actually uses this site. (or at least who admits to it) :D

I would consider myself a regular consumer who happens to operate a small business since I am self-employed although since I use three different vehicles I suppose that I could also be considered a fleet operator.

It's not a dumb question. If I was running this site I'd be interested to know if business owners/fleet managers used the data (if at all) for low gas prices.

Huh, I fall in the 4%. I am an indepentant business owner. A have a very small service fleet (4). And yes, the price of gasoline affects all we do. I will say that todays prices are pretty decent. The $4.49 I was paying late last summer was very brutal. So many of you will say "Why not just raise your rates". In my industry we are set by teriff. Last set when gasoline was $1.30 (ish). Some if our individual service rates have gone up, but not nearly with inflation. Now, it will be at least two years to get back to normal. But even with the economy in the dumps, I feel this summer will be better then last summer was for us as we are in the relocation industry. And I didn't think this was a "stupid" survey at all, of course I'm in the 4% on this one!

Some of the station owners, perhaps even a high percentage of them, who use the site may only be using it for quick checks of the competition, and not be members.
I know the assistant manager of one of my regular stations now checks the site. He asked me one day why I was writing down prices of grades other than the one I put in my car, and I told him about the site. He hasn't joined, but checks it out a couple of times a week, and passed the site on to a few other franchises.

Might have been interesting to have another category besides gas station -- how about people who are otherwise employed in the fuel industry, refiners, drillers, surveryors, fuel sales etc.

Re: Proteus-- About those station staff, some might follow the site but be reluctant to say so on a survey, perhaps creating survey error.

It's interesting that there are not more gas station owners and managers here. I would think that they would be interested in using this site to see what the competition is doing, and potentially to make sure that their information is available. I often wonder why the stations with lower prices wouldn't want to make that fact widely known via this and other sites. Speedway makes their gas prices available by location on their homepage. Why not post it here?
