API wants Congress to repeal, not reform, federal RFS

Oil & Gas Journal -- The American Petroleum Institute is bringing refining executives to Washington, DC, to convince Congress and the White House that the federal Renewable Fuels Standard should not simply be reformed, but fully repealed.

“Our sense is there’s no support in Congress for keeping the RFS as it is,” said Bob Greco, API downstream group director. “Some members want to repeal it; some want to reform it. We’re telling the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which is looking at the problem, that repeal is the best solution.

this is because the CEO's wants to make sure they make a bigger profit ! It's all amount MONEY ! If the CEO is not making big profits that they need for the Oil Corp they don't make them Mil.s of dollars in BONUS That why they don't want to use a lot of the profits to up grade Power Co.s are the same way they want to pass the cost on to the ones that buys it from Gas -Power !

While I do not like rules, it would seem a mistake to put all our eggs back into only the oil basket. I think this is the real worry, that oil, will not remain the primary fuel. After all ethanol, was to be the primary fuel for Ford, until Standard Oil convinced them to change.

RFS is a scam. Wouldn't make it on it's own without government subsidies.

Our government is broke why do we continue to throw $$$ at failed projects.

I would rather that Congress repeals the RFS, its outlived it usefulness. It doesn't make sense to set a higher quota for renewable fuel when fuel consumption has declined for the last several years. Even increasing the amount of ethanol blended with gasoline is a bad idea. If increasing the blend to E15 will cause damage to older cars and small engines, what's the point of that.

Eliminate RFS. Eliminate ethanol mandates.

I am on board to repeal the RFS. It doesn't make sense to require more ethanol when all it does it cripple fuel economy. So in the end, we will need to fill up more due to lower mpgs. Common sense repeal the law and allow the corn to be used for what it is, ...........FOOD!!!!!!!
