CNOOC Parent May Bid for Iraqi Oilfields, Fu Says

Bloomberg -- China National Offshore Oil Corp., the nation’s third-biggest oil explorer, may continue to bid for oilfields in Iraq after the Gulf country awarded a contract to its bigger rival, China National Petroleum Corp.

“We may continue to participate in the second round,” China National Offshore President Fu Chengyu said today in Beijing. Iraq plans to award contracts for oil and gas field exploration and development in a second licensing round to be held before the end of the year, Abdul Mahdy al-Ameedi, deputy director general of the Petroleum Contracts Licensing Dept., said July 2.

But Bush and Cheney didn't succeed because the world was watching and insurgents were blowing up the pipelines. So we spent $1 trillion to $2 trillion, destroyed so many lives and caused so many physical and emotional disabilites of Americans and even more Iraqis. We also destroyed our military readiness by committing so many troops and National Guard and wearing out vehicles and equipment. For what?

The more we let China get a foot hold into Iraq the worse off we will be. The war wasn't started for oil; however, we sure should be looking for payback after all the lives we lost in their defense.
