The same thing could happen in Texas if a major refinery blew up but we are starting at about a buck less per gallon of gas AND we have a lot more refineries to pick up the slack.
Californians don't care about a reliable and abundant supply of gas and this is what you get.
I am sure that attitude will change when gas rarely goes below $5 a gallon and they will sound like Texans when it breaks $10 a gallon.

Boo-hoo-hoo, we get a 10-15 cent jump at least once a week, then it takes the rest of the week to drop 5-7 cents.

Look at Speedway and Marathon. When prices jump... they are in the lead and frequently... they jump by more than 25 cents when they jump. Bottom line... I do not buy gasoline from either of these companies.

That's nothing!!!!
We in Western Canada in Calgary jumped 7 cents a litre the day after. That would be 26.74 cents for a US gallon for those of you idiots that don't know metric.
At 1.169 a litre, we are paying over $4.41 for a US gallon while other parts of Canada are paying far more.
STAY AWAY FROM US FOR HOLIDAYS. True, we are friendly but our government with it's taxes is not.
