Driving the 2013 Ford Focus ST

NY Times -- Holdouts certainly remain, but the lament that presumes well-engineered, sporty compact cars bypass the American driver is playing more softly of late.

Scion and Subaru dealerships can’t keep the FR-S and BRZ sports coupes in stock. Hyundai is readying its 200-horsepower Veloster Turbo to begin sales this summer. And a decade after producing the Focus SVT hatchback, its beloved if belated overture to the tuner culture that flourished in the ’90s, Ford has started producing the 252-horsepower, front-drive 2013 Focus ST, which is scheduled to leave the Ford plant in Wayne, Mich., and arrive in dealerships late this summer.
