E15: A Fuel Before Its Time

The energy Collective -- “Ford does not support the introduction of E15 into the marketplace for the legacy fleet. …any damage resulting from misfueling is not covered by the warranty.”

Chrysler: “We are not confident that our vehicles will not be damaged from the use of E15. … use of the blends beyond E10 will void the warranty.”

Honda: “Vehicle engines were not designed or built to accommodate the higher concentrations of ethanol. … There appears to be the potential for engine failure.”

You have to love the government way. They force you to buy a fuel that is more expensive and has less energy in it. Then complain that cars don’t get enough miles per gallon while telling us there is nothing they can do about fuel prices.

Many manufacturers not quoted, but those that are say their engines will be damage by E15.

Some in Washington must be getting donations from the corn growers.

E15: A Fuel That Is A Waste Of Time

With the subsidies going away the end of last year, I'm suprised anyone in the EtOH industry is interested in manufacturing this crap!

"…use of the blends beyond E10 will void the warranty.” NICE!

With so many auto manufacturers basically telling us they will not warrant their autos if we use mileage killing and engine damaging (maybe) fuel.

Is this why our great corrupt career criminal politicians push it on us?

No Career Criminal Politicians in November!! You can tell them by the Ethanol on their breath!

And by the dead boarder agents. Eric Holder.

Etahnol cause MPG to drop since alcohol has lower BTUs than other fuels. No E fuels!

And does the EPA care? Need to run a vehicle on this stuff until engine damage occurs, then sue the hell out of them. Any volunteers? Maybe EPA employees???

I think VDubBill has the correct title for this article: "E15: A Fuel Past Its Time." No ethanol is our fuel! Ethanol, the real fuel of the past.

Ethanol sucks for countless reasons. We are forced to use this crap without the freedom of choice. What if they added chemicals to our water without our consent?

This is America! We're losing our freedom and rights, thanks to those who elect progressive socialists like Obama to run our lives.

I suppose that is one way to look at E15. I just don't think we will ever get decent mileage out of it.

Oh yeah... great for the economy... less fuel economy, more damage to engines and fuel systems.

Looks like obama and the EPA are trying to force the general public into deeper debt by making them buy vehicles that meet the new ethanol levels as E15 destroys the current ones they are driving.

Zero ethanol would make the best blend!!!

My vehicle has a big warning inside the fuel door, not to use E15. I wish I could find a station without ethanol, period. Haven't been able to find any in Houston.

I agree with most GasBuddies that E15 and any higher E content gas should not be mandated. As a minimum, the consumer should have a choice.

Notice the quotes don't simply reference decreased mpg. They talk engine DAMAGE. Is anyone willing to sacrifice their car for garbage gas? The govt should just admit this is an unacceptable alternative and leave us alone.

We had a report about stations that carry 100% fuel.
The results were alarming; In my area I could only find two, That's TWO that carried the real deal. One is a marina. We are so screwed.

Put food on the table not the gas tank. Ethanol production has reduced the farm land used for food crops causing prices to increase. Ethanol reducesMPG how does that help fuel buyers?

The government will easily solve this problem by banning older cars. If they can demand everyone buy health insurance, they know they can demand purchase of new GM cars.

None of them are going to step up and say "sure, go ahead". All that does is open them up to more claims that probably would have nothing to do with the ethanol.

E10 is bad enough. Wish politicians would stop trying to appease Monsanto and the corn lobby, but that would require them to stop writing them "donation" checks.
