Ford deal to bring 500 jobs to Detroit

MLIVE -- DEARBORN, MI- Through a three-company deal, Ford Motor Co. and partners will bring about 500 new jobs to Detroit, officials announced today.The deal involves the Dearborn-based automaker and its Automotive Components Holdings subsidiary, which was formed in 2005 to sell the operations or close 23 Visteon plants and other facilities, selling its interior trim components business in Saline to French auto supplier Faurecia, which will lease the physical plant. In turn, Faurecia and Rush Group Ltd., part of the Rush Group of companies that includes one of Ford’s largest minority- and woman-owned suppliers, called Detroit Manufacturing Systems (DMS).

Since GM is moving it's business to China, Detroit could use the jobs and 500 is better than none.

Ford never asked for any help from the government, but does not seem to get the best deal from the unions. Something has to give somewhere.
