Gas prices creeping down, but not fast enough

St Tammany News Banner -- Gas prices are once again on a roller coaster, and since last week the price of regular gas has decreased by about 5 cents a gallon nationally for regular and premium alike.

Locally, AAA reports the average cost of gas per gallon last week was $3.795 for regular and $3.729 yesterday in the New Orleans metro area. Premium was $4.037 yesterday and $4.096 last week.

What has caused the decrease?

“For the first time in a decade, we are actually exporting gasoline instead of having to import gasoline to meet our energy needs,” said Don Redman, public affairs director for AAA in New Orleans. Gasoline demand has dropped by about 6 percent, compared with the same period last year, while supplies have increased by 3 percent, he said.

“Experts say the prices have been artificially high

the positive news is, price is down from a year ago, the bad news is, it's only 4 cents (in my area).

They always go down a lot slower then they rise. Prices overall continue to trend upward which doesn't bode well for our economy.

The title says it all - 'Gas prices creeping down but not fast enough' Gas prices can shoot up fast but are very slow to come down. Everyone in the process of selling fuel are taking as much profit as they can, when they can.
Big oil continues to sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO major price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. Barry will support natural gas and oil production for sale on the world market to pay for his ‘spending gone wild’ addiction and receive the huge federal tax income on oil. The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their benefit.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible!
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

solution: EXPORT TARIFFS.

why should only the oil companies profit from gasoline sales?

would put more money back in the US Treasury;
make foreign products more expensive (and ours more competitive);
make driving to work cheaper, leaving more money for consumers
(stimulating our economy).

Finally, someone who get's it. If the price lowered by 2-6 cents it didn't fall, drop, go over a cliff or dive.

They wouldn't be artificially high if you would get rid of the speculating. We paid higher prices for months because something may or may not happen in Iran. It's flippin ridiculous.

You are oh so right JSX515...,"Goes up 15/20¢ a pop, down at 1/2/3¢ a day." Why aren't others in office noticing this drastic difference in the way gas goes up verses the way gas drops down!

When the prices go up, they skyrocket, but when it comes time for them to come down, the always crawl down at a snail's pace. That's IF they come at all. Sometimes, they just stay the same until it's time for them to increase again..

Prices haven't budged here yet. So I would say that somebody's margins a bit higher than most. NICE if the FRACKING speculators don't gouge us the rest of the supply chain does. it sucks
