Just living in urban areas is a major reason for increased violence.

@johntxx
At one point, we didn't know that radiation was dangerous. We didn't know that thalidomide caused birth defects. We didn't know that mercury caused brain damage. Someone, somewhere, performed studies and figured those things out, and now we know, and we're better off for it. Even if you don't believe that lead dust causes problems with people's levels of violence (though who are you to question these doctors and scientists and say their findings are wrong?), it's pretty much universally accepted that lead is dangerous if ingested or absorbed. How do you think we figured THAT out? Probably another one of those "worthless" studies, funded by a "research grant."

Hmmm!
Just what I needed to explain my unloving behavior toward my wife, as in, "Sorry honey, the lead made me do it!"

What a load. They used to say it was the cartoons we watched, also a load. Who pays for this junk? Oh yeah, I do as a tax payer funding completely useless "research" grants like this one. Now there's something to get your blood pressure up. Maybe we need a study on that--not.

Disclaimer: I played with lead and mercury when I was young.
Look to see the political agenda of the researcher. Check for other contributing factors. There are more variables than can be listed in a thesis. Coincidental events like 'eating carrots' can be used by stupid so-called researchers looking through their political agenda glasses to make a case for any demon.
I know I'm right and I'll beat the living dung out of anyone who disagrees with me.

This is still a theory, which is an idea which is backed up by tests. There is always a chance that there are a number of mistakes in the idea. More testing results and prof is needed.

Yeah right... have a tough time with this one....
Absolutely nothing to do with the:
1. Korean conflict 2. Vietnam conflict 3. Rise in population 4. Increase in drug use 5. Increase in alcohol use 6. Increase in gangs and gang associations 7. Television access to media hype and taking as gospel truth 8. Hollywood becoming the real life and real life becoming "history" 9. Exponential growth of graphic and violent video games/movies 10. Unemployment... 7% in 1950 is nothing compared to 7% in 1985!! 11. "Inner" city population growth with little to no chance of getting out. 12. Lighter sentences due to a "legal" rather than a "justice" system 13. Heavy swing from "I should do something" to "I saw nothing" 14. police/security resources lagging behind population growth 15. General public knowledge of police/security response is limited
etc, etc, etc... the list goes on and on!!!
Wonder what Mielke is going find and publish in this day and age where rapes, beatings, riots and murder are now shown through the exponentially expanding internet and "smart" cell phone social networking?
Must be due to the lead exposed to the developers of this new cyber means of communications and all those who follow it!
Guess I must have been effected as well. Posting this reply electronically...

I believe it is called lead poisoning.
That is the main reason lead was removed as a gas additive decades ago.

Guess I'm not really surprised, given what we already know about the toxicity of lead and heavy metals. Though I suspect we could see other studies that would refute the behavioral impact.

Yes, heavy metals are not good. So eat a diet that helps flush them out if you live in urban areas that were effected by this stuff. But be real careful you don't use this as an excuse for bad behavior.

Hmm, I wonder if children of pro-gun parents also exhibit the same symptoms?
