Murray Energy files lawsuit against EPA over coal regulations

Pittsburgh Business Times -- Ohio-based Murray Energy Corp. has filed a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency, the company announced Monday.

The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia against what Murray said was environmental regulations that are hurting coal miners. Murray said in the lawsuit that provisions in the Clean Air Act require the Environmental Protection Agency to consider how new regulations will impact employment at companies complying with any new legislation or regulations. But Murray said the EPA under Administrator Gina McCarthy has not done so and the laws have what it termed little or no environmental benefit.

The Clean Air Act is crystal clear in requiring the EPA to evaluate the negative impact that their regulations will

wanna see what unmitigated coal burning does to people and their environment? Look at pictures from post-Soviet era East Germany, Poland and Russian enclaves.

Companies like Murray won't be satisfied until they've mined the last ounce of coal in WV regardless of what it does to the environment or the people who live there.

The EPA is not perfect but Murray has no room to complain about regulations since they do not follow them anyway. They just go on polluting the air and water while turning the green rolling hills of West Virginia into a wasteland. No sympathy here. Clean up your act or get out of town.

Sleazy Murray owners and executives have never minded sending their unhealthy acid rain, particulates, and heavy metals like mercury to land all over New England! They have never lifted a finger to clean up the emissions of coal fired power plants to avoid their current predicament.

It's about time someone got some backbone and started pushing back.

Tell the EPA it is the Clean Air Act, not Pure Air Act.

Just because you can measure down to 10ppm doesn't mean we must attain that.

Better yet, eliminate the EPA bloodsuckers.

Coal companies should fight back, but eventually they will have to give way to something much cleaner and better whether they like it or not.

Murray Energy has no concern about the workers, only that they will not be making as much money. I feel sorry for workers that might lose their job but in reality coal mining should have been curtailed a decade ago and the coal companies charged with the murder of those who have died because of the pollution caused by coal!

Does this establish the precedent to start filing law suits against everything our government has beaten us with and cheated us with and lied to us about?

"Get rid of the EPA and all their made-up regulations."

*******************

It would be better to get rid of canucks trying to influence US Policy and their dirty tar sands that they want to dump on us. We are working on the coal industry.

Are there no clean air regs in the UK
