Retail gas prices down penny in Texas, nationwide

KVUE -- HOUSTON (AP) — Retail gasoline prices in Texas and nationwide have slipped a penny this week.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the statewide average price at the pump stood at $3.66 per gallon. Drivers nationwide are paying an average $3.82 per gallon.

Texarkana has the most expensive gasoline in Texas at $3.72 per gallon. The association survey found that the cheapest gasoline statewide is in El Paso, at $3.44 per gallon.

AAA says gasoline prices spiked last week as the Gulf Coast braced for Hurricane Isaac and some refineries shut down. Prices weakened once the market determined Isaac would have a limited impact on long-term production.

If they nationalize oil companies, then the government will screw that up, like they screw everything else up.

Down a penny this last week after "up" forty times that in the last month. A penny is not a trend, nor something to calm consumer anger.

gonzohb has a point. But coming from Los Angeles, he is in the minority within a liberal stronghold. Keep the faith gonzohb (something the democrats have misplaced and the liberals lack). Jonah was a "lone voice" in a sea of sin also. However the reputation of Los Angeles is much worse than that of Nineveh, and they follow a recalcitrant leader.

Hopefully, only a start in a decline in prices that will help the American consumer... then elect a president who will allow drilling on public lands and get ride of some of the ridiculous decisions that Obama has made.

I'll have to Google-maps to find out how to get to El Paso and fill up and get back home before I run out...no, snap...I'll strap red gas cans on my roof carrier and add a hitch gate carrier which will hold 16 5-gallon cans and the roof top will hold 48 5-gallon cans....I could rent a u-haul but I don't think I'll save enought in gas to buy all those extra red gas cans....maybe I can use Zip-lock bags instead in the U-haul...still having trouble with that yellow/green wire and that red wire still smells bad....Wait---one gallon of gas weighs somewhere between 6-7 pounds...I'll need to get air shocks on the rear and raise the car up 3 or 4 inches for the bigger duallies and use winter air in the tires because you get better gas mileage in the winter...can I just put the air compressor in the fridge overnight or do I have to drive to Maine first...maybe I should should buy the cheapest gas I can locally...I have to work next week so now I don't have the time to go to El Paso. This gas savings gets harder by the day...Maybe next time :)

Last week all I read were articles about how relief was coming after Labor Day and yet gas still remains at 4.29 near me. I think the oil companies are conditioning us to think that relief means prices will no longer rise, similar to the way they have conditioned us to think that 3.50 gas is cheap.

A PENNY? AWESOME! Now I can finally buy that house I've been eyeing or send my kids to college instead of working in a coal mine at 12 years old. I'm going out to buy me a Hummer H2 now too! Wooo! A PENNY!
