Something to be giving thanks for: lower gas prices

Gainsville Sun -- The average price for a gallon of gas in the U.S. is about 25 cents less than it was during last year's Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to AAA's weekly Fuel Price Brief.

In Florida the average is 18 cents less.

"Fuel prices are forecast to decrease further this week, bringing even lower prices as the holiday nears," said Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman with The Auto Club Group. "Even with the decrease in price, the cost of gas is unlikely to have a major impact on people's travel plans."

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.19 on Monday, about 6 cents lower than a week earlier. The Florida average, at $3.20, was about 4 cents lower.

not lower here either. In fact, this area, which has been up to 15 cents below national average for a long time, is now above national average.

The prices have been dropping around here - some of the tourists we get from California are running into town on low side and filling up here as we are quite well off. The use of averaging says we have $3.27 gasoline but I have lots of 3.12 and such around me. And I have a hybrid so I don't worry a whole lot.

The current prices are not low. When Obama took office the price was under $2/gallon.
