Watching Government: BLM's proposed fracing rules

Oil and Gas Journal --
The US Bureau of Land Management didn't have to wait long for comments about its proposed hydraulic fracturing regulations. Oil and gas groups and environmental organizations quickly found problems with the May 4 proposal.
Industry groups pointed out that many states already have effective regulations. "Each state has unique geologic and surface conditions that are more effectively regulated and managed at the state level," American Exploration & Production Council Pres. Bruce Thompson said.
"This proposed rule is a solution looking for a problem and is another effort to federalize the regulation of the production of our nation's energy resources," he continued. "The result of the imposition of this proposed rule would be higher energy costs, fewer jobs, lower revenue to the US Treasury,

if both sides find problems, it can be a sign of a good proposal. Haven't read it, so I can't comment on the quality and sensibility.

But BLM is supposed to protect federal lands which belong to every US citizen and anyone living here, not sell out to the highest bidder at the first good opportunity.

Who's facts, known by whom? Humble?....PLEEZ!

As long as any member unfairly uses 'in your face' rhetoric to another member, I will stand up and say ENOUGH!

Let me remind you, "Kindly remember anyone on GB has the right to their own opinion. That opinion does not need a citation to make it so, or to make it their opinion. You need to learn to accept opposing opinions/comments without attacking, with ‘in your face rhetoric’. That type of action tends to limit comments by posters to a thread, and does not enrich the discussion. In fact those remarks can turn a thread into a negative and churlish place to come for many Members."

Bull butter! Tea can stand up for his/her self. Tea posted the "billions of gallons of toxic chemicals" are pumped into the Earth, that opinion is untrue and it is a fear mongering tactic used to prey on ignorance.

Of course everybody has a right to their opinion and to a difference of opinion. I merely and humbly post opinion based on the facts as they are known and will question those opinions that appear based on non-fact and or emotion.

Again, don't fling arrows with out expecting a response.

Horse feathers! Looks to me like the Pot calling the Kettle Black! I notice you did not bother to dispute the Big Tobacco claim…..what no citation or is this just ‘fear mongering’?

Your Mountain Top removal comments are just that… your opinion even though pictures of the devastation caused by Big Coal are legion on the Web; I am sure you have seen them. Yup, bait and switch on your part.

I am not quite certain what you mean by ‘the truth will set you free’. You seem to use the phrase frequently, and it is getting old and worn. What Jesus actually said was, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

MY Jesus would not be too thrilled with many of your comments on this thread. Keep in mind….WWJD? Give Peace a Chance!

Tea claims "... why pumping billions of gallons of toxic chemicals into the Earth puts our water supply at risk?"
=====================
Obviously without a credible source for this allegation we must chalk that statement up to more fear mongering.

I am always interested in listening and can be persuaded by facts but they just don't appear from tea.

And mountain top removal? More bait and switch from tea, in my opinion, since this article is about government regulatio. But I suppose it's not ok that nature performs mountain top removal around the clock, everyday and will continue to do so for time to come?

The truth shall set you free!

Thanks for the clarification rjhenn.

But then why would we expect the BIG OIL & GAS industries to understand the "common rules of English pronunciation" when they say they do not understand why pumping billions of gallons of toxic chemicals into the Earth puts our water supply at risk?

Besides, BIG GREED industries have demonstrated for years that 'rules' do not apply to them.

Reminds me of how Mountain Top Removal Mining used to be called strip mining.
That clever bunch over at BIG GREED COAL thought nobody would ever catch on to that one.

Much like BIG TOBACCO.
Hire experts to tell 'em it's harmless and keep the labs busy working to make the stuff even more addictive (instead of less toxic .... what a concept?)

But aren't we all glad that the BIG GREED industries can afford to pay millions for shills and spin doctors to spread fertilizer for US by rewriting the "common rules of English pronunciation" and health & science :0|

drpepperTX - "Thank you rjhenn for showing the point that the bias media has taken the longstanding industry terminology of fracing or fraccing and uses 'fracking' to add a negative connotation."

Actually, it appears to be just the opposite. Much like there used to be a constant search for terms to substitute for "Negro" ("African American". "black", whatever), because of the bad connotations that people thought they acquired. Though here it's just trying to find a different spelling. Unless you're thinking of Battlestar Galactica. But I don't think they ever spelled the word on the air.

"It's really not any different than their thinly veiled dislike of the Second Amendment. Knowingly using the inaccurate term 'automatic' when they know the correct term is semi-automatic."

While I'd agree that the media can be incredibly ignorant (or maybe that should be "willfully" ignorant), as exemplified by the 2nd, I don't see that here.

Here's one article on the subject of the spelling.

It shows how the slanted media has created a slang word for fracing and continued the brainwashing of the ignorant.

Folks, there is no K in the word fracturing, thus the correct term is fracing."

Actually, this use of the term "fracing" shows the desperation of the industry to try and avoid the existing negative connotations of "fracking".

Whether or not there is a 'k' in "fracturing", the common rules of English pronunciation dictate that there should be one if the 'c', that is pronounced as a 'k' when followed by a consonant, is followed by a vowel. It's a common transformation.

The alternative is to pronounce the word like 'f' 'racing'.

Which would mean it's no longer derived from "fracturing".

fracing?
There are unique geologic and and surface conditions present in each state and each state may effectively control those sites. BUT, protect the surface and ground waters, people and animals at all times from fracking! Fracking water and sand contains pollutants released from the underground rock and brought to the surface: Lead, Methane, various gasses and chemicals and whatever else maybe contained in the underground rock or sand deposits.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible!
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Interesting statement. Care to elaborate? I'll concede there are no PERFECT energy solutions but no such thing as clean energy???

Of course, the oil and gas industry oppose federal fracking regulations. They like the current, crazy quilt of state regs.

The easier to divide and conquer.
